Citizens Bank Park Seating Chart
Citizens Bank Park is a baseball-only stadium located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It opened on April 3, 2004 and seats 43,302. The first regular season game was on April 12, 2004. It replaced Veterans Stadium and is home to the Philadelphia Phillies. The ballpark has natural grass and a dirt playing field with Ashburn Alley behind center field which is a walkway featuring restaurants and memorabilia from Phillies history.
Citizens Bank Park is the newest of four venues in Philadelphia's "Sports Complex". There has been some controversy surrounding the fence distances since the park's opening. The park was designed to be both pitcher and hitter friendly. The team made a mistake by originally placing a 369 foot distance marker in the left center field 25 feet closer than it should have been. There were 228 home runs, the most in the National League, in 2004. After the 2005 season the fences in left and left center were moved back five feet and raised 2.5 feet.
Ryan Howard became the first player to hit a home run into Ashburn Alley on April 23, 2006. The ball traveled 496 feet and was the longest home run to date at the park. Howard hit the ball off of Sergio Mitre of the Florida Marlins. On June 20, 2006 Ryan Howard hit a home run that traveled an estimated 461 feet off of Mike Mussina of the New York Yankees. Howard once again was the first to reach the third deck at the ballpark. The Phillies have since painted a white "H" at the location for commemoration. It is located at section 304, Row 1, Seat 8.
