Safeco Field Information

Safeco Field
1250 First Avenue South • Seattle, WA 98134

Safeco Field is home of the Seattle Mariners baseball team. Safeco is located in the SoDo district of downtown Seattle at the intersection of 1st Avenue south and Edgar Martinez Drive south.

The stadium has a retractable roof with a train line running under the roof when it is open. Trains can be heard tooting their horns during all games. The ballpark seats 46,621 for baseball. It was host of the 2001 MLB All-Star game, the 2001 college football Seattle Bowl, and WWE Wrestlemania XIX in 2003.

The first game played at Safeco Field was on July 15, 1999 against the San Diego Padres. The Padres defeated the Mariners 3-2. The naming rights, of course, were sold to the Seattle based insurance company Safeco.

You can see beautiful views of the downtown Seattle skyline and unbelievable sunsets over Puget Sound from all angles of the stadium to give fans an amazing experience in MLB. A lot of fans will watch the game from standing areas throughout Safeco. There is also a patio at Bullpen Market in center field that has become an event within an event as thousands gather before and during games. You are able to make a full circle around the ballpark all while viewing the game!
