In contrast to FedEx Field in suburban Maryland, the Verizon Center is the prototypical downtown entertainment complex. Hosting the NBA Wizards, WNBA Mystics, Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball, NHL Capitals, the NLL Power and more than 200 other concerts, conventions and events throughout the year, it's a rare day when there isn't one or more events on the docket. The seating, which accommodates approximately 20,000 people, offers a generally excellent line of vision, although the steep, narrow walkways on the upper levels can be claustrophobic, requiring sure feet and a stout heart.

At 12 feet x 16 feet, Verizon Center's SACO SMART VISION System is the largest video scoreboard of its kind to be placed in an arena. The SMART VISION System is an LED (light emitting diode) video system recognized for greater brightness and clarity. The 500 line resolution is equivalent to that of a true television image. LED systems are comprised of pixels that form the video images on the scoreboard.

There's often just as much action going on in the seats as on the scoreboard. Whether it's members of Congress, local media celebrities like DC101's Elliott in the Morning or NBC's Tim Russert, or even the man from the Oval Office himself, people come to MCI to see and be seen.

Concessions
Papa John's pizza and various ethnic food vendors round out the normal selection of pretzels and hot dogs.

Parking
Approximately 10,000 parking spaces available in area parking lots and garages within 10 blocks of Verizon Center.

Directions

From National Airport:
North on George Washington Parkway. Exit onto 395 North across 14th Street Bridge. Exit at 12th Street (stay left). Turn right on Constitution. Turn left on 7th Street.

From BWI Airport:
South on Baltimore-Washington Parkway (295). At split, follow signs for New York Avenue. Turn left onto 7th Street.
