Jacobs Field Information

Jacobs Field
2401 Ontario Street• Cleveland, OH 44115

Jacobs Field is a baseball field located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. It is home to the Cleveland Indians. Jacobs Field was named after Richard Jacobs, the former team owner.

Jacobs Field is part of the revitalization of downtown Cleveland. The stadium opened in 1994 replacing Cleveland Municipal Stadium which the Cleveland Indians shared with the Cleveland Browns.

In 1995, Jacobs Field hosted its first World Series in which the Indians lost to the Atlanta Braves. It was also host of the 1997 MLB All-Star Game and host of the 1997 World Series where the Cleveland Indians lost to the Florida Marlins. Beginning on Opening Day 2007 the Cleveland Indians are going to be opening Heritage Park. Heritage Park is a site for the Cleveland Indians Hall of Fame, the 100 Indian Roster, and Memories of the Indians. This will be located behind the center field wall.

Weather
The former stadium was on Lake Erie, so the move to the heart of downtown has provided the Indians with a somewhat warmer climate. Still, on any given night, temperatures can dip, and fans are recommended to bring a jacket or sweater.

Parking
Jacobs Field is a short walk from most of Cleveland's downtown garages and surface parking lots, and it is estimated that more than 30,000 parking spaces are available for most Ballpark events.

With an average of 2.5 persons per car, this means that the available spaces within a 15-minute walk are more than enough to accommodate all the fans attending simultaneous sellout events at Jacobs Field and Gund Arena.

In order to avoid getting stuck in traffic created by vehicles and pedestrians near Jacobs Field, choose an access route which avoids streets bordering the ballpark and find a parking garage or surface lot a few blocks away, and walk.
