Christina Aguilera Biography
Christina Aguilera aspired to be a singer since she was a small child. Her grandmother was the first person to recognize her vocal skills. As a child she performed at block parties and in talent competitions. In March of 1990 she appeared on Star Search, but failed to win. She went back home after her Star Search appearance and appeared on Pittsburgh’s KDKA-TV’s Wake Up with Larry Richert to perform—people remarked that the 10-year-old “sounded 20.” Aguilera sang “The Star Spangled Banner” before Pittsburgh Penguins hockey games, Pittsburgh Steelers football games, and Pittsburgh Pirates baseball games throughout her childhood in Pittsburgh. In 1993, she joined the Disney Channel’s variety show The New Mickey Mouse Club.
