Washington Huskies
Ever since their sterling March run in 2005, the Huskies have been in a slight rebuilding mode, trying to restore the talent level to what it once was. Making matters tougher for Coach Lorenzo Romar is the loss of Spencer Hawes after one season in Washington. Hawes left campus for to join the NBA, leaving Coach Romar with a hole in the middle that may have to rely on some unproven players to get the kind of post production needed to challenge in the Pac-10.
Coach Romar will be relying heavily on sophomore Quincy Pondexter and Jon Brockman for his inside punch. The problem is both players were secondary to Hawes last year and there's some uncertainty concerning whether or not these two will be capable of replacing what Hawes provided. These two will be joined by Justin Dentmon, Ryan Appleby and center Artem Wallace. If these five can play together and make each other better, Coach Romar should have a team that can compete with anyone in the Pac-10.
