Syracuse Orange
The `Cuse is in the house, OMIGOD, OMIGOD!!! As a big college basketball fan, I've always loved that Syracuse chant (associated with the 1996 National Runner-Up team). This year, the Orange could be making their fans feel that giddy again as Coach Jim Boeheim continues getting talented players to come to upstate New York. This year, he may need the strong freshman class a little sooner than he hoped. Syracuse lost four important players after last season, three of them starters. However, don't fear too much Orange fans because Coach Boeheim has assembled an impressive freshman class. So get ready to root for the young ones.

Headlining Syracuse's heralded class is 6-11 forward Donte' Green and guard Jonny Flynn. Both players are McDonald's All-Americans and arrive on campus with stellar prep resumes. Expect Green to start at the power forward position while Flynn pushes the returning Josh Wright. These two are joined by guard Antonio Jardine and forward Rick Jackson. Both will also push for big minutes in the Orange rotation. The center position will be manned by Arinze Onuaku who missed last year with a knee injury. Reports are Onuaku is back at full speed.

While it's not often Coach Boeheim has to rely on a glut of freshman, he has had success when he's started freshman, especially one in particular: Carmelo Anthony. While they may not have anyone that dynamic, they do have a great deal of young talent. If the Orange can survive the early season while they get used to playing together, they should be pretty formidable by the time the Big East portion of their schedule rolls around. If you are `Cuse fan, make sure you don't miss the Carrier Dome when it's rocking this season.
