Stanford coach Trent Johnson has the makings of a pretty decent team in the Pac-10, provided he can get them to stay academically eligible. Coming off an 18-13 record, the Cardinal are in a position to make some noise on the West Coast this year but to do so, they need a full compliment of players. The reason for the optimism comes from a solid frontline, but the problem is, one of them can't keep their head in books. The trio leading the way for Stanford is Lawrence Hill and the Lopez Twins, Brook and Robin. This gives the Cardinal a talented trio of frontcourt players.

However, the problem lies with Brook, who is academically ineligible for the first semester. Lopez will be available—provided he does what's expected of him—in December and if he can rejoin the team in shape physically and scholastically, the Cardinal will be a tough match-up for any team, especially those with weaker interiors. Besides Lopez's academics, another problem comes from the fact the Stanford guard play is not as good as their frontline. If they can get some consistency, led by Anthony Goods and Fred Washington, the sky's the limit for this team.
