I really wanted to see this horse achieve immortality. Would've been a nice way to honor the memory of Eight Belles as well. I was only five when Affirmed did it in '78 and I can just barely remember it. What a great year that was: a Triple Crown winner and my beloved Cats were national champs. Damn.
