If Larry Johnson throws up “the roc” every time he scores a touchdown, he might want to throw one up for all the Kansas City Chiefs fans he’s scoring points with. In light of Johnson’s amazingly-brilliant Twitter rant and subsequent suspension, Chiefs fans have had enough of Number 27 and because of that, they don’t want him to get any closer to the franchise’s all-time leading rusher record, one that’s currently held by fan-favorite, Priest Holmes.

Larry Johnson

In fact, Chiefs fans are so against the idea of Johnson owning that record, they’ve brought out the big guns to express themselves:

An Internet petition.

Now before you scoff, some petitions have been used to save television shows, so who knows, maybe the Chiefs fans can get their point across in such a manner. If not, I’d recommend a torch-carrying mob descend on 1 Arrowhead Dr and rabble-rouse to their heart’s content. Hey, they do have a right to assemble for peaceful demonstrations, so why not take advantage of it? I mean, just as long as you are only using those torches to light your way.

Anyway, back to the petition. Chiefs fans want nothing to do with Johnson having records they cherish, and hey, when you consider Johnson’s impressive 2.7 YPC on top of everything else he’s managed to screw up, you begin to see their point. A snippet of their plea reveals more:

It’s not a hidden fact that Larry hates being in Kansas City. He doesn’t like the organization, he doesn’t like the fans, he doesn’t like the city. He has been more than vocal about how he feels about being a Chief. We’ve waited for years for him to be traded and we don’t believe that there is an offensive line that can open a hole big enough for Larry and the chip on his shoulder to run through…

We are asking you, as fans of this team, this organization, and of the pride that this city has in the Chiefs, please deactivate Larry Johnson. Please do not let his name sit atop the all-time rushing leaders in Kansas City Chiefs history. He needs a mere 80 yards to surpass Priest. He doesn’t deserve that opportunity. He has never represented anything close to the values that we have for our Chiefs and it would be another dagger to the fans that continue to support this proud franchise.

So yeah, LJ, don’t let the door hit you on the way out — especially if Chiefs fans get their way.

Currently, there are over 10,000 signatures and has knowledge of this thing grows, I expect those amounts to do the same. It’s painfully obvious Johnson is no longer welcome in Kansas City, and with Jamaal Charles — he of the 5.0 YPC — waiting in the wings, it’s time for the franchise to move on. Johnson is a shell of his former self, and he obviously gives less than one damn about how he’s perceived. Or do you honestly think his self-serving rant was accidental?

Considering the rebuilding project that awaits the Chiefs — which includes every position on the offensive side of the ball, save quarterback and one of the wide receiver positions — there’s really no point in keeping Johnson and atrocious play around. If the Chiefs’ front office doesn’t want to cut him, Keyshawn him. Send him home for the rest of the season and give Charles an opportunity to perhaps fill a gaping need. It’s not like Johnson will have anything to do with the Chiefs future, especially as they start rebuilding through the draft.
