Getting You In the Mood for NBA Finals
Finally. That’s about all I can come up with when thinking about the fact the NBA Finals start tonight. Boston versus LA. The Lakers versus the Celtics. Magic versus Bird gives way to Kobe versus Paul Pierce. All things considered, that’s the way it’s supposed to be. To help get you prepared for the fun, here’s a selection of intros and promos for the NBA Finals on television.
If these don’t get you in the mood for some basketball, nothing will:
Starting us off is a promo for the 1992 Finals. If you don’t love the music, you might be dead.
Next up is an intro for Game 1 of the 1997 Finals between the Utah Jazz and the Chicago Bulls. Two words: Michael. Jordan.
Moving on to 1998. This is just the introductory music, but damn if it doesn’t work like a charm:
Lakers versus Pacers from when Kobe was winning rings with Shaq (that seems like 5 lifetimes ago):
I really like the flashback looks… A lot more than those new remix commercials, anyway:
Speaking of remix commercials, here’s one of the current promotions the NBA is providing:
You’d be shocked to know I prefer the old school versions. Now, if these don’t get you in the mood for some NBA Finals basketball, you might want to go see a coroner and let us know what your autopsy reveals.
With that in mind, here’s my prediction: Lakers in six. Kobe Bryant as Finals MVP.
Yeah, I know I really reached there, but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it… at least until the Celtics go up 3-2.
