Chris Paul wasn’t the only NBA player showing off his buzzer beater skills last night. Of the twelve games on the schedule, 8 of them were decided by 10 points or less, and 5 of those were decided by one basket (or less if the final tally was less than a 3-point win). As indicated in the title, Dirk Nowitzki got in on the buzzer beater fun as well. His game-winning shot was at the expense of the Philadelphia 76ers. Dirk Diggler’s game-winner also ended Philadelphia’s seven-game winning streak as they wait for the return of their offseason acquisition gem, Elton Brand.

For Dirk, it wasn’t his greatest shooting night, but in the end, all that matters is the one he did hit as time expired. Considering just how dangerous of an offensive player Nowitzki is, maybe next time, someone will have the good sense to double-team the Mavs’ best players and make someone like Jason Kidd shoot the potential game-winner.

Just a thought.
