Jim Joyce Is Only Human

And he likes puppies too! See? He’s just like you and me. Too bad his work mistakes are magnified to the point that Twitter users explode with rage-filled invectives (140 characters only, please). When’s the last time a mistake you made generated responses to the tune of 46 per minute? Now, is this an “all is forgiven” post? No, not really. But before you run out and help populate Fire Jim Joyce sites, take a second to consider your worst gaffe ever and think about how you’d feel if everyone with an internet connection was calling for you to be fired. Or worse.
Furthermore, it’s doubtful you’re going to make Joyce feel any worse than he already does.

I’ll admit it was nice to see and hear Joyce’s reaction. Hopefully that will go a long way in helping him cleanse his guilty conscience.
Galarraga also showed what kind of man he is.
As did the Tigers GM who bought his young pitcher a brand new Corvette.
As it turns out, the only person who showed no class in the incident, as usual, is Bud Selig.
Here’s my take on the matter.

Joyce really had no choice but to apologize, and he’s handled himself well.
Galarraga must be some sort of saint because I would have exploded.
And as a Phillies fan who watched Bud Selig almost commission Cole Hamels’ Game 5 start in the 2008 World Series right out of existence, it’s no surprise at all to see him botch this one, too.
Selig couldn’t get making a mistake right.
