Yes, I know this was done in jest — or at least I hope it was — but if you’ve ever wondered what people are talking about when they call programs like Kentucky and Duke “basketball schools,” you now have an idea why. This sign was spotted this weekend in Lexington during the Kentucky/Louisville football game, and it does a great job of revealing where the Kentucky fanbase’s head is at: Focused directly on John Wall.
Of course, when you read things like this from Gary Parrish, on top of realizing you have the Florida Gators on tap as the next football opponent — a team you haven’t beaten since November 15, 1986 — fixating on the idea of John Wall tearing it up on the basketball court is understandable.

95% of the people in the great state of Kentucky are tremendous football fans. They fill the stadium and are respectful of the players and coaches. Rich Brooks and his staff have done a masterful job of bringing talent to UK. There will always be a strong Kentucky basketball following at UK and the history surrounding UK basketball should be respected and applauded. I think the decision to be bring in a PE coach to roll the ball out to a group of great athletes is questionable, but time will tell. I feel probation coming !
Well, Bernie, you represent the amazingly small percentage of John Calipari non-believers. I hope you don’t go to UK forums saying these things because, unfortunately, Kentucky basketball fans would absolutely hammer you.
And that’s kinda sad. I guess if you don’t drink Cal’s kool-aid, you aren’t a true fan…. Or something equally stupid.
