As you can see, they are celebrating Mario Chalmer’s brilliant shot; although, a shot of Chris Douglas-Roberts slamming the ball after he missed his free throws would have been appropriate as well.
I hope this cover doesn’t SI-jinx the Jayhawks next year.

I’m guessing that the exodus of all of their seniors, and every key piece of their puzzle, along with the inevitable NCAA Title Hangover, is going to clip the ‘Hawks, circa 2008-09 more than the cover will.
Still can’t believe Memphis blew that. I was on the Tigers (-2) and when Rose made that free throw to put them up three it was obvious that one shot was going to decide where millions of dollars (not mine, just the total handle on the game) were going to end up. He’ll never know how big that shot was to so many people. Incredible.
I can’t even begin to imagine how much money changed hands during the closing seconds of regulation… Speaking of Rose, CDR deserves some guff as well. 0-2 before Rose even took his charity shots.
Oh well, a National Championship is a National Championship — even if you back into it while it’s being handed to you.
