The Vikings of Portland State are going to the Big Dance for the first time in the school’s history, thanks to a 64-51 victory over Northern Arizona. Leading Portland State in scoring was Deonte Huff, who finished with 17 points. Them winning their conference tournament culminates a great season for the Vikings who finished 23-9 and won the Big Sky regular season title as well.

Continuing their list of firsts, it was also Portland State’s first time in the Big Sky conference final game. Welcome to the Dance, PSU. Good luck with Cinderella’s slipper.

In other automatic bid news, Mount Saint Mary’s also earned a ticket to the Dance — their first since 1999 — by beating Sacred Heart, 68-55. Currently, there are 13 teams sporting those sexy automatic bids, something Storming the Floor is doing a great job at keeping track of. Speaking of, here’s a video of some Portland State students enjoying their team’s automatic bid, courtesy of STF.

They also have video of Mount Saint Mary’s students doing the same.
