A funny thing happened to the Louisville Cardinals after they beat Kentucky two weekends ago: They got to be pretty good again. After a subpar–by their standards–preconference W/L record, the Cardinals entered the Kentucky game on the verge of falling out of the top 25 had they lost. As readers here knows, Edgar Sosa saved the Cardinal bacon against Kentucky and in response, Louisville is now 3-0 since Big East conference play began. This includes a road win over a ranked Villanova team and last night’s overtime win over Notre Dame.

The Irish beatdown was punctuated by an Earl Clark monster jam over last year’s Big East player of the year, Luke Harangody, which has been immortalized above. While Harangody got the better of the match up (28 and 13)–with the notable exception in the above video–the Cardinals got the game to overtime and then took over, outscoring the Irish 16-2 in the extra stanza.

Next up for “the Ville,” a big time Saturday throw down against the number-one ranked team in the nation, the Pittsburgh Panthers. This one should be an absolute barn burner.
