Jimmer Fredette

It’s about that time, so I’m leaving this post here for the first group of Thursday games, including BYU stud, Jimmer Fredette. BYU plays Florida (I’m picking BYU) and Old Dominion plays Notre Dame (feeling ODU here). This post will be a mish-mash of thoughts and observations from the initial session.

Update (11:35): OK, I have ODU/Notre Dame on the TV, Florida/BYU in one browser window and Nova/Robert Morris in another. Now that’s what I call living. Nothing really to report so far, except if the early indications pan out, all three games will probably be close. Nip and tuck is the theme so far.

Update (11:50): BYU can’t guard Florida; not at this rate, anyway. Athleticism is ruling this day. I’m curious to see if BYU changes their defensive philosophy because what they are doing now isn’t working. Woohoo. Iron Man 2 trailer.

Update (12:05): Not sure what’s going on with Villanova. Lethargic comes to mind. Reynolds was being benched in order to “teach a lesson” apparently. For whatever reason, Nova hasn’t been able to recover from what undoubtedly was a shocking revelation.

Update (12:30): Creepy stat so far: Halftime score in both the ND/ODU and Nova/Robert Morris games: 28-22.

/Cues Twilight Zone music

Nova needs to find their pulse if they don’t want to be remembered as an infamous 2-seed.

Update (12:45): Oddly enough, Florida/BYU was the first game of the tournament, but ND/ODU is four minutes ahead of them, in terms of game-clock time. I’m guessing the 15-minute half time is faster in New Orleans. In other news, CBS has Villanova on official upset alert. In fact, there’s a banner on their homepage indicating such. I’m laughing out loud here.

Upset Alert

Good stuff.

Update (12:55): BYU is starting to pull away from Florida, securing their first double-digit lead, and if I’m not mistaken, the first of the tournament. Fredette has 20.

OK, I’m moving this act to Twitter. Follow me there. I’ll be back with various updates as they warrant.
