Rush formed in 1968 and is a Canadian rock band. The original lineup did not include Neil Peart as the drummer as he replaced John Rutsey in 1974.

Their first Juno award in 1974 for the Most Promising Group of the Year foreshadowed many awards to follow throughout their career including capturing the Juno Group of the Year two consecutive years in a row (1977 & 1978). Their latest Juno honor includes winning the 2004 Music DVD of the Year for their "Rush in Rio" album. 2004 also landed them a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.

The unique talent and style of Rush makes it obvious why they have achieved their fame. Over the years Rush has evolved musically from heavy metal, to hard rock, to progressive rock and finally to modern rock all the while maintaining itself as a rock band authority. Many rock bands have acknowledged the inspiration they received from Rush's dramatic style including Metallica, Dream Theater, and Symphony X.
