A quick look at Def Leppard:

When you think of popular 80's music, Def Leppard, in all likelihood, appears near the top of every list (at least they should). With songs like "Pour Some Sugar On Me," "Photograph," and "Rock Of Ages," Def Leppard has long solidified their place in Rock and Roll history.

Originally formed in 1977 Sheffield, UK under the name Atomic Mass, the current incarnation of Def Leppard has undergone some thoroughly extensive changes, including the loss of an arm by drummer Rick Allen in December 1984 (Allen famously returned to Def Leppard sporting a drum kit that included additional foot pedals to facilitate his loss).

From their initial Def Leppard EP release in 1978 to 2006's Yeah!, it's safe to say the band has persevered. With some amazingly strong chart performances, most notably Hysteria and Pyromania, Def Leppard has been a force in the music industry for quite some time. In fact, the only album that kept Def Leppard's 1983 release of Pyromania from reaching the top of the charts in the US was Michael Jackson's Thriller.

Not only has Def Leppard been successful with record sales, they are also famous for their extensive concert tours -- a glance at the current Def Leppard tour schedule (North America) supports this thinking. In fact, their commitment to bringing their music to a live audience landed Def Leppard in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the only band to play on three separate continents (Africa, Europe and North America) in one day.
