A Grammy award winning music artist, Eric Clapton plays the guitar, sings, and composes. Eric Clapton has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame three times. He is one of the most respected rock artists and is even considered one of the most talented guitarists in history.

Clapton joined a band, the Yardbirds, in 1963 and stayed with the band until March 1965. Just as Clapton left the band the Yardbirds had their first major hit, "For Your Love," in which Clapton played the guitar. Clapton went on to join the John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers band in April 1965. The band released an album, "Blues Breakers" where Clapton played the guitar. Between this album and playing in nightclubs Eric Clapton became well known as a blues guitarist.

In mid 1966 Eric Clapton left the Bluesbreakers and then formed Cream. During his time with Cream he developed as not only a guitarist, but as a singer and songwriter too. In early 1967 Jimi Hendrix came to shake up the guitar world. In just three years Cream had sold more than 15 million records and was playing in standing-room only venues. Cream disbanded in 1968. Clapton went on to perform guitar rips for Harrison and in albums for the Beattles. He also went unaccredited due to contractual restraints in Harrison's solo albums; although they did play live together as each other's guests until Harrison's death in 2001.

Cream briefly reunited in 1993 to perform at a ceremony inducting them into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. They reunited again in 2005 playing four sold-out concerts at London's Royal Albert Hall and three more at New York's Madison Square Garden. The recordings from the shows were released on CD and DVD in September of 2005.

Eric Clapton released his first solo album in 1970 named "Eric Clapton." He appeared on many other artists' records throughout the years including Leon Russell, Stephen Stills, George Harrison, The Plastic Ono Band, and Dr. John.

He also worked with the Derek and the Dominos and created many albums with them including "Layla" and other assorted love songs. "Layla" has been noted as Clapton's masterpiece. Derek and the Dominos were short-lived. They played together until 1979 or so and then did not reunite until 2003.

Eric Clapton collaborated with many artists and groups over the years-too many to mention. He continued his solo albums through the 1980s and in 1989 his resurgence came full circle with "Journeyman". The 1990s brought many more albums as well as tragedy. His son Conor died in 1991 after falling from a 53rd story window-Clapton's grief was revealed in "Tears of Heaven" and it received a Grammy Award. Clapton finished the 90's with collaborations with Carlos Santana and B.B. King. He released the album "From the Cradle" and the hit "Change the World" and won another Grammy for the song he also recorded "Retail Therapy" album under the pseudonym TDF.

In 1999, Clapton married Melia McEnery in LA while working on an album with B. B. King. They married in 2002 and have three daughters. In November of 2002 Clapton masterminded "The Concert for George." Clapton's official memoirs are to be published in 2007 written by Christopher Simon Sykes -sold for $4 million in 2005 at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Derek Trucks is joining Clapton's band for the 2006-2007 tour. You can buy your Eric Clapton concert tickets now at Ticket Solutions.
