Bublé grew up listening to his grandfather's jazz records. His grandfather encouraged him to learn the standards and enter a talent contest in Vancouver which he won, but later was disqualified for being underage. He did move on and won the Canadian Youth Talent Search at the age of 17. He received first prize. Over the next few years he pursued music, but was not very successful. He played Elvis in a Red Rock Diner road show, sung as a star of a musical revue, and appeared in an episode of Death Game in 1996. He recorded a couple of independent albums and received two Genie Awards in 2000 for songs he wrote for the film Here's to Life.

Mulroney introduced Bublé to David Foster a producer and record executive, who had previously worked with Josh Groban. Foster signed Bublé and he started recording his self-titled album in 2001. The album, "Michael Bublé" was released in 2003 and had chart success in Canada, UK, U.S., and Australia and elsewhere soon followed. Bublé's version of "Kissing a Fool" by George Michael was released as a single and reached the Top 30 of the adult contemporary chart. In 2004, Bublé won the Best New Talent award for "Michael Bublé" and was nominated for Album of the Year.
"Let it Snow" was released in late 2003 and did very well on the charts. Bublé has appeared in many films over the past few years including, Duets, Totally Blonde and in The Snow Walker. Bublé's second album, "It's Time", debuted very well on the charts. The album reached number seven on the Billboard Album charts and number two on the ARIA Album charts in Australia.
