The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) is a five-game arrangement for postseason college football that is designed to match the two top-rated teams in a national championship game and to create exciting and competitive match-ups between eight other highly regarded teams in four other games.

The Louisiana Superdome will host the BCS National Championship Game on January 7, 2008, at the historic Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans. It will be the second game of the double-hosting model with the Nokia Sugar Bowl taking place in January 2008. Both games will be televised by Fox.
